How many times do we hear someone say, "I don't dream." Everyone Dreams. Dreaming is important to our health and wellbeing, both mentally and physically. Studies have been done that indicate dreamtime is healing time.
Dreaming occurs when we enter REM sleep. REM sleep is the only time our brain is completely stress free. It's also the time that the day's activities are replayed giving the opportunity to experience stressful or emotional events in a calm and safe manner. It's a little like getting a second chance to process events minus the upset. Because we "replay" the day's events without emotions we have a more objective view of their meaning. We dream in a language of symbols, Archetypal symbols to be exact. Through these universal symbols we can interpret our dreams, often finding meaning to perplexing problems in our lives.
We don't always remember them though. Sometimes we will remember a dream when we wake up only to forget it in the next moment. It can be very frustrating. There are things we can do to improve our dream recall. Every night as you go to sleep ask your Higher Self to assist you in remembering your dreams, but first set your Intention This is important to you and your Intention will secure that. Intention is similar to making a strong statement for why you want to do something … what is your intention for wanting to remember your dreams? You will be surprised how setting an intention will enable you to get answers and insights to problems that otherwise leave you perplexed.
It's always good to keep a notebook by your bedside and record anything you remember immediately. Often just a word or two will bring the dream back to your mind. Even keeping a small voice recorder is easy and convenient to use.
But as with many things, it takes practice. Be consistent and soon your dreams will become an important part of your life.
